EMPACT Academy™, powered by EMPACT One Foundation, is reshaping education in the Fayetteville/Cumberland County region by giving parents complete control over their children’s academic journey, while providing the structure, supervision, and enrichment opportunities of a professional learning environment.

In this model, parents legally establish their own homeschool, while EMPACT Academy™ provides daily onsite supervision, academic resources, social engagement, and wraparound services that ensure every student thrives, academically, socially, and emotionally.

Why EMPACT Academy™? The Need is Clear

The homeschooling movement has grown exponentially in the last decade. According to the U.S. Census Bureau:

  • In 2019, only 3.2% of U.S. households homeschooled their children.

  • By the fall of 2021, that number had more than doubled to 6.8% nationally.

  • North Carolina is among the top five states for homeschooling growth, with over 160,000 registered homeschool students in the 2023–2024 school year (NC Division of Non-Public Education).

Research from the National Home Education Research Institute (NHERI) shows:

  • Homeschooled students score 15–30 percentile points higher than public-school peers on standardized tests.

  • They demonstrate greater self-motivation, leadership skills, and civic engagement.

  • 67% complete college, compared to 59% of public school graduates.

Homeschool co-ops, where families share educational resources and professional support, deliver the benefits of flexibility and community connection, producing some of the strongest academic outcomes in the nation.
